What items can I store in my unit?

You can store a wide variety of household and business items—electronics, furniture, documents, photos, musical instruments, antiques, collectibles, wine, medical supplies, and more. For sensitive items, we recommend a temperature‑controlled unit.
Not allowed: flammable materials (gas, propane, etc.), food, firearms/ammunition, and hazardous or toxic substances.

Do I need insurance to rent a storage unit?

Yes—insurance is required. You may use your own coverage if it includes storage; simply provide a copy of your declaration page. Otherwise, you can purchase insurance through Citadel.

How long can I rent a storage unit?

We offer flexible, month‑to‑month leases—with cost savings on long‑term or annual rentals.

Do you offer climate‑controlled storage units?

Yes! Many facilities provide temperature‑controlled units to protect your belongings. We also have non-climate drive‑up units. Availability varies by location—check “Find Storage” to confirm.

Can I access my storage unit anytime?

Access is available from 6 AM to 10 PM daily. Business customers at select locations enjoy 24‑hour access. If you’re on-site after 10 PM, you can exit but will need code access to re-enter.

What security features are available?

Our facilities feature 24‑hour surveillance cameras, gated access with security code, and on-site staff to ensure your belongings stay safe.

Do I need to buy a lock?

No—every rental includes a free disc lock at move-in.

What happens if I lose my keys?

Simply contact us—Citadel can cut the lock and issue a replacement (for the cost of the lock).

What happens if I miss a payment?

You get a 5‑day grace period. On day 6, late fees apply, and your unit will be overlocked until your account is current.

Do you offer military discounts?

Yes, active-duty military personnel have their admin fee waiver applied.

How can I make my payments?

We offer autopay, online payments, phone payments, in-office, or mail-in checks.

Why are there different price options for the same unit size?

Prices vary by facility and unit type—like first floor, second floor, and climate-control. Contact your chosen location for specific pricing.

Why is the website price different from in-store price?

Online reservations come with discounted rates—we encourage booking online to save.

Do you have any units available?

Do you provide moving help or equipment?

We don’t provide moving crews but are happy to recommend reliable local movers. We do offer carts and dollies for your use.

Do you offer parking spots?

Yes—many Citadel locations offer secure parking spots for vehicles, trailers, RVs, or boats. Availability varies by site—check your local facility.

Do I need to notify anyone when accessing my unit?

No—you can access your unit anytime within access hours once your account is set up.

Do I need to be present when movers deliver items?

No—just provide them access to the unit (keys and security codes) and ensure they return the lock afterward.

What if I need a different size unit?

You can transfer units at any time based on availability—just let us know.

What do I need to do when I move out?

Provide 5 days’ notice, remove all items, clean the unit, leave the door open, and inform us when you’re done.

Will I get a refund for remaining days if I move out early?

No—rates are not prorated. Plan move‑out around your lease end to avoid unnecessary charges.
